• Hello.

I just experienced a previously unresolved issue. Referencing the original topic that was closed for inactivity (my own fault for not following up):
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/error-deleting-unable-to-find-matching-item-in-database/#post-16571129

“One of my rating forms is having an issue. Attempting to delete the ratings from the form or delete the entire rating form shows the following error message:
“Error deleting: Unable to find matching item in database.”
Other rating forms seem to have no issues. How can I fix this error?”

Original reply from Josie Stauffer (@joanne123):
“That exact error message would seem to imply that an “item” (ie an uploaded image file) that was expected to be there was not found. Did you delete items that had attached ratings? That should not normally have been allowed to happen without the rating itself being deleted.

Are you able to delete individual ratings, or do all the ratings in the form produce the same error?

Do you find anything in your error log file that might be relevant?”

In the current instance, I did delete the images from the corresponding Web Form before updating the Rating Form. Working in this order does seem to break the Rating Form. I cannot delete the ratings from the last time the form was used. Is there any other way to remove the ratings from the form in this instance?

I’m afraid I’m having trouble reproducing this. Unfortunately, there are a number of ways to delete images and/or webforms. Can you remember precisely what button on which page you clicked to delete the images, and which button subsequently produced the error message?

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Yes, I can retrace exactly what I did.

    1. I use the checkbox to select one specific WebForm.
    2. I selected “Delete All Items From Selected WebForms” from the dropdown menu and click “Apply”.
    3. I can’t recall the exact warning message but I don’t recall it being anything more than the regular warning. Click “Yes, Go Ahead”.
    4. Successful deletion of images from the selected WebForm.
    5. I then navigate to the corresponding Rating Form.
    6. I use the checkbox to select one specific Rating Form.
    7. I selected “Delete Ratings From Selected Rating Forms” from the dropdown menu and click “Apply”.
    8. I receive the regular warning message: “Please Confirm Are you sure you want to delete all the ratings from these rating forms? This action cannot be undone.” Click “Yes, Go Ahead”.
    9. I receive an error message: “** Notice ** [RF013] ? *** EntryWizard ERROR *** Error deleting: Unable to find matching item in database Unable to find matching item in database Unable to find matching item in database Unable to find matching item in database Unable to find matching item in database Unable to find matching item in database…”

I assume if I perform data clearing in the opposite order – deleting from the Rating Form first and then deleting from the WebForm after – would not cause the issue. I just don’t always remember to go in a specific order.

I’m afraid I still haven’t been able to replicate the problem. Does it happen again if you retry deleting the ratings from the rating form? How many items are shown as having ratings for the form?

What happens is that deleting each item automatically deleted it’s associated ratings. The rating form should then show 0 ratings, and there should be no need to delete it’s ratings. But you should not be getting error messages if you try, just “0 ratings deleted”.

Are you able to just ignore the messages and continue, or do you then have other problems?
