Little bit more info on the issue.

    1. I deactivated all the plugins on https://www.denverchauffeur.com and then tried to install the JetPack, I got the same error message.

    2. How do I pinpoint what could be broken in the theme that would not allow JetPack to install ?

    3. /xmlrpc.php is installed on https://www.denverchauffeur.com

    4. define(‘JETPACK_DEV_DEBUG’, true); is not present in the wp-config.php file.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

This 406 error seems to be caused by a mod_security rule blocking incoming connections to XML-RPC on your site. Here is the response we get when trying to connect to your site:

<head><title>Not Acceptable!</title></head><body><h1>Not Acceptable!</h1><p>An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. This error was generated by Mod_Security.</p></body></html>

Could you contact your host and ask them if you can unblock access to your site?

Let me know how it goes.

    Hello Jeremy,

    Thank you for the response.

When I contact HostGator, what should I ask specifically so they can take the appropriate action to unlock my site.

I have multiple sites hosted on HostGator, some I can install jetpack on, while on others I get the HTTP 406 error.

    Thank you for your help.

You can ask them if they currently block incoming requests to your site’s XML-RPC file. If so, they’ll need to disable the Mod_Security rule that blocks things.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello Jeremy,

I spoke with a HostGator Tech Rep JESUS M., and he told me that “there is no Mod_Security rule that blocks things for you in this case. After trying to scan for errors or Mod_Security rules that can be causing an issue for you there is none. “

I showed him the error that you were able to replicate “<head><title>Not Acceptable!</title></head><body><h1>Not Acceptable!</h1><p>An appropriate representation of the requested resource could not be found on this server. This error was generated by Mod_Security.</p></body></html>” and he said that there was none.

Do you use a service or plugin that may stand between your site and external sites like WordPress.com, and block incoming connections?

If so, could you try to deactivate it and let me know if it helps?

Hi same problem here… Tried Deactivating all the pluggins and doing some other things that I read in other support sites, nothing has worked.

    Thank you!

    This is what https://todoclima.cl/xmlrpc.php displays

XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.

sorry posted on a new thread!
