• Hi.

I’m having an error when I try to submit an answer on my Q&A website, running Ask Me theme. After a 2 minute long wait or something, it opens the URL (My Root Domain)/wp-comments-post.php.

I believe the error occurred after upgrading to WP 5.9. That’s why I downgraded back to the old version with a back up. The problem is still there. I checked the Console errors, PHP files, forums but still couldn’t find the right answer.

The weird thing is, posting a comment “rarely” worked. I mean I’ve tried like maybe 40-50 times to post a comment during this period of tests, and 2-3 times posting the comment worked.

    What I’ve tried so far:

    • Backup and downgrade back to the old, working WP version
    • Disable auto-update
    • Disable plugins
    • Check PHP files
    • Check Console/Log errors
    • Check online for a similar situation

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,

If you think the issue was due to the recent update, the troubleshooting guide here might help: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/read-this-first-wordpress-5-9/#post-15286141

If that does not resolve the issue, it’s possible that a .htaccess rule could be the source of the problem. To check for this, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, and rename the .htaccess file. If you can’t find a .htaccess file, make sure that you have set your SFTP or FTP client to view invisible files.

If you weren’t able to resolve the issue by either following the guide or renaming your .htaccess file, we may be able to help, but we’ll need a more detailed error message. Server errors are usually described in more detail in the server error log. If you have access to your server error log, generate the error again, note the date and time, then immediately check your server error log for any errors that occurred during that time period. If you don’t have access to your server error log, ask your hosting provider to look for you.
