Error establishing a database connection

  • SIr,
    With all due respect, I have been building an e-commerce website for a client and its almost done and was working right till last evening. From the night its responding with a database connection error.
    I’m not able to login to “/wp-admin” as its showing “Error establishing a database connection” too.
    PHPmyadmin isn’t approachable.
    Kindly help me as soon as possible.
    Will be very thankful to you for this act of kindness.

  • Hey @mohsinmalik70,

    What I see on your site that you have shared you need to complete the installation of your new website.
    I strongly recommend that you do this as soon as possible to avoid future issues.

    You need to add your credentials db user / db password. If you do not know this, you can contact your hosting provider and ask for help from them.

    The very first thing to check: Is the database service up? Can you access it from the command line via “mysql” or from the web via PHPMYADMIN?

    When I look at your site now, I get the WP installation. That tells me that the database is up and WP can access it, but it can’t find its own tables. IF you can see WP tables in the database via PHPMYADMIN, then it’s likely the table_prefix define in wp-config.php does not match the prefix being used in the database.
