• My Blog is not appearing, and I’m unable to access the admin control panel, I’m not sure if its a problem with my host (Godaddy) or just something wrong on my end. I can’t even long into the actually PHPadminControl for the Database so maybe the servers are just down please help this is the address to my blog. upperthinking.com/blog

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at upp0900706455293.db.3684185.hostedresource.com. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

  • Guess you fixed it already. Looking good in 2 browsers.

Yeah the problem seems to have resolved its self, but then it reverted back to the error message so I decided to login in to the wordpress admin control panel and it started to work again…any ideas why? This is starting to annoying me, there is no consistency

I’m having that problem right now. My blog has been up over a year, never had this happen. All day its been the same message:

    Error establishing a database connection

Of course Godaddy has no answers. What do I do?

I have been having this problem too. That specific error comes up in Google’s Chrome browser, in IE it will just say HTTP 505 or will simply not render.

My host asked me to change ‘localhost’ in wp-config.php to a different value, that successfully had my blog display again (https://verabear.net) but it reverted to the 2.6 version of WP. Before the error, I was using 2.7, and have put up several posts. They are gone!

Does anyone have any idea on what can be done here?

I can’t even long into the actually PHPadminControl for the Database so maybe the servers are just down

@upperthinking: so could you log in your phpMyAdmin now? Again, your site is looking good. Good to contact godaddy tech support about the problem. Also, install database backup plugin so you regularly get copies every day or every week, depending on frequency of your post.

@tl1fan: same goes for you re backup files and database regularly. Be persistent in contacting Godaddy tech support to resolve this issue.

@verabear: … and have put up several posts. They are gone!
Do you have database backup or XML export at least? Which host are you using? Looks like they retrieved their last backup of your database before trouble started and that was back when you were using 2.6. You should contact host tech support to retrieve your database 2.7 version.

Sadly, I don’t have a backup. I had backed it up only until before I upgraded to 2.7 in December. I feel so bad that I have to rely on my host (Philhosting) because they are not very competent based on how they’ve handled this issue so far ?? Thanks anyway mercime…

Verabear. Could it not be that your posts are still savely in your database, but WP doesn’t know how to access it because you’ve edited the wp-config? Did you already have a peek using your control panel? For the 2.7/2.6 thing I don’t have any ideas though…

Every continues to work well with my blog, its probably something that just happens and resolves itself, I wish wordpress themselves would actually come out with a logical explanation for this problem

I am getting this error when i try to login. I don’t know how to resolve it. I don’t have any backup of my files. My blog address is
    iblog.net.au/sriram. Please help!

    Can’t select database

We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the iblog2_mu database.

    * Are you sure it exists?
    * On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?

If you don’t know how to setup a database you should contact your host. If all else fails you may find help at the WordPress Support Forums.

    sriram_1611: Contact your web host.
