• Hi, I am a blog.tiscali user and since few weeks I receive this error every time I update my blog:
    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at blog-db.nfs.prt.tiscali.sys. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

?Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
?Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
?Are you sure that the database server is running?

What happens? Thank you for your help.

I would contact blog.tiscali.it’s support department.

It sounds like there was some internal change (change the database server, changed database credentials, etc) and your blog’s wp-config.php file was not updated, or simply the database is offline.

Hi Brandon thanks a lot for your answer, but how can I do in this case.
I understand well, does the problem is a Tiscali problem?
Thanks again and I wish you a nice day.
    Francesco.

As Brandon suggested the WordPress installation is not able to communicate with the database. So basically as the error states you have a wrong username, password, database name or host.

In this case contact the support at tiscali and ask them to confirm that the details (username, password, dbname and host) are the correct ones because your WordPress installation is not able to connect to the database using these connection settings.

Hi every one, I was filling out the details for mysql database connection while installing wordpress and I received this message screen

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

    Try Again

What Do I suppose to do ?

    thx for ur help

@mcintoshfr: It is impolite to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread with a question of your own and it causes significant problems for the forum’s volunteers. Please post your own topic.

    ok I didnt know
    Please excuse me

try contacting the hosting provider if the database server is online / if they have any other problem at their end, or they made any changes to your account, or if there are any limitations/restrictions, if the hosting package is set to Windows and not Linux, etc .
