• I got this error out of the blue. I know there is already a few threads with possible solutions but many of them do not apply to my case.

The site is new and I was working on it fine so it is not a case of misspellings on the database configuration.

It all happened while I was on the back end and I was editing a page, after doing some changes, (I believe assigning a CSS class to an image), I reloaded the page and bang, suddenly the site it’s broken.

Obviously I have rechecked the wp config just in case but all data is fine, also it shouldn’t be a case of wrong configuration as the site was up and running as a charm until that point.

I am using the latest WP and have basic plugin that I normally add to all my sites with no reported issues whatsoever.

    Anyone has a clue?

If you still see the error, and are absolutely sure that wp-config.php is currently correct, contact your hosting provider to ask why your database server is offline.

    Hi James,

Thanks, yes, I am about to do so. I have tried to repair the database by adding the “define(‘WP_ALLOW_REPAIR’, true);” to the config.php but nothing has changed.
