    I get error message “Error establishing a database connection” as soon as I start installer.php. I made a database only archive, copied all WordPress filesto new folder, uploaded the archive and installer.php just like I did several times…

    Thank you Cory for getting back to me. I tested the connection with the code provided: “Success: A proper connection to MySQL was made! The my_db database is ready to use . Host information: Localhost via UNIX socket”. Maybe I was not clear, I get the error message as soon as I start installer.php. Installer wouldn’t even start. I don’t understand why it is trying to connect to any database at this point, when I haven’t provided any credentials yet…

    OK, so at least I found the cause, but I don’t know the solution yet. It is caused by Wordfence. I found several suggestions how to avoid Wordfence interfere with Duplicator, but I haven’t succeeded so far. What I did was I deleted the plugin folder and wordfence-waf.php from root, but Wordfence is still blocking the installer. Any thoughts on this?

    Thank you Cory, I managed to solve the problem. Just for the record, I needed to delete/rename user.ini as well, since the line with the ‘auto_prepend_file’ was in that one… Thanks again!
