• Hi there,

I cannot access my website https://www.paperless.co.za. I can’t log on, can’t access the admin console, or anything to try and solve this error.

I can’t even log on using the account I had to manage the site, as it seems like the “account does not exist”.

This happened after my site got update to version 3.9.2, and cannot be due to me not logging on – I was on this site at least once this year. This site is younger than 2011.

    Please advise.

  • That error occurs when your database connection details in your sites wp-config.php file are not correct.

You should double-check the connection details in that fie and see that they match what they should be for your database. If they don’t change then and re-save that file to the server. If they do look right contact your hosting company and ask them to see what the difference is.

    Hi,

I cannot access that file, as I cannot log on, I have absolutely no access to the site whatsoever.

Everything is straight on wordpress, there is no hosting company?

You would need to use FTP to get the file.

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_FileZilla

And I’ll bet there is a hosting company of some sort – unless you’re running a WordPress.COM blog, which I don’t think you are. All sites that run the software from www.ads-software.com are self-hosted, and are run on a hosting platform somewhere.

Okay, so I need to log on to ftp://paperless.co.za?
Though my account details does not seem to work? I did not set up the site initially, took it over from web designers for the company, so I apologize if this is stupid questions.
Did they have to set up different credentials to access the FTP?

This error occurs due to wrong information in wp-config.php file. Either your host name and password, or your database access information is incorrect.
You may check wp-config.php file via ftp or cpanel access. This file is located inside the root folder of WordPress.

If you do not have the correct FTP details contact your hosting company and get the right FTP details. Then you’ll be able to sort it out.
