Error establishing a database connection on my computer only

  • I am getting a “Error establishing a database connection” when trying to login to our staging site, but my co-developer isn’t. Since I am the only one with this problem I am assuming it has something to do with my browser/computer. I have cleared my cache, deleted site cookies and tried other browsers. None of those helped. Anyone know what might be going on, and how to fix it?

    Are you sure that you have the correct MySQL database username and password in the wp-config.php file?

    Are you sure that you have typed the correct MySQL database hostname into the wp-config.php file?

    If yes to both, then you’ll need to contact your hosting provider’s support to ask why your database server is offline.
