• I’ll start by saying that I don’t know squat about coding, hosting, or any of that stuff. I was using a video and I basically followed everything, from 000webhost to FileZilla. I was all fine until I got to the part where you set up the database with WordPress.
Here are a few things I don’t want suggested to me:

    • Anything with the wp-config file. I do NOT have that, just the sample one.
    • Anything that has to do with incorrectly spelled usernames, passwords, or hosts. I have checked that MANY times.
    • Anything that has to do with me having an already-existing website/domain (or linking to it). I have neither of those, as I am starting from scratch here. All I have is an account, a database, and increasing frustration.

Do you think it could be because of the fact that I’m using a free hosting service? If anyone has any suggestions/solutions, PLEASE speak up. I’m very anxious to start this site. Thanks in advance!

  • You need a wp-config.php file for WordPress to work.

Copy your wp-config-sample.php and name the copy as wp-config.php in the same folder.

From this, I am assuming you filled up your wp-config-sample. Once you have made the copy and named it as wp-config, your website should work.

    Good luck.

Ok, I’m completely lost. Now when I click on my domain name it goes straight to an error. I don’t know which order to do things in, and the guy in the video is doing all kinds of things not showing up for me. I’m gonna try a different host.

Its not your host. Changing host will not fix this, although some hosts have one click installers and that should make things easier.

What error do you get when you click on your domain?
