    I have the following installed and running correctly:

    WAMPserver: 2.2e
    Apache Version : 2.4.2
    PHP Version : 5.4.3
    MySQL Version : 5.5.24

    I exported my database from the remote server and imported to the localhost and FTP’d the WP site code to the ‘www’ folder of WAMP. The password settings are correct (identical) for the WordPress config.php on the localhost (compared to remote). Localhost and phpMyAdmin commands are working correctly through WAMP, but I cannot access the projects through WAMPservers homepage or directly through a URL entry in a browser (Firefox). “Error establishing database connection”, also shows an ‘error 500’ in Apache access log:

    127.0.0.1 – – [28/Jun/2012:14:15:54 -0700] “GET /mysite/ HTTP/1.1″ 500 251

    Needed to add the MySQL user (from WP config.php) to phpMyAdmin user database . . Doh!

    Can I ask if you were able to see your site at all? I am getting the error message after the site was working fine.
