• I am trying to access my existing site and I am getting a “error establishing database connection” message.

I have contacted my host and they tell me that my username and password in wp-config.php is correct.

They say I should install a brand new copy of WP, and import themes, and plugins and database. I know very little about this stuff and used step-by-step tutorials to get it set up initially and now may be in over my head. I don’t want to do anything to loose the current info on my site but need to find somehow to get it fixed. (and why did this happen in the first place? .. I haven’t made a change to my site in a month!)

Does anyone have any advice for me, or could point me towards a forum or another discussion that talks about this?

    Thanks so much!
    Amanda

  • Make sure you are pointing the right:
    1. Database name
    2. Database username
    3. Database password
    4. Database server (usually it’s localhost, but some hosts have different value)

Do you install wordpress by yourself ? using manual method or using automatic install like fantastico/softaculous?

I having trouble lgging into website and cannot access https://www.zeuswriting.com gives me database error your quick response to this would be appreciated thank you.

    Thank you for your reply!

It looks like my database name and username are the same, does that sound right? I wouldn’t know where to get the database name from if it’s not. As for password and server, that all looks correct.

I honestly don’ t even remember how I got this all set up and weather I did a manual or automatic install. I’m pretty pathetic, aren’t I? Hopefully I can find a simple solution to this or I might have to start from square one again, because none of this stuff makes sense to me.
