    Dear All,

Since installing the event calendar plugin last week I am having “Error establishing database connection” problems. Now every time I try to edit the calendar the connection breaks and I have to wait hours to be able to access my wordpress site again. I am using Virtue theme and I am located/hosted in China (don’t know if that could be part of the problem).

What could be the problem and is there a solution besides deleting the plugin (which I rather not do since I really like your calendar)

    Howdy DavidADoepel,

You definitely might try moving the plugin (its folder) outside of your plugins folder, and seeing if your database connection problem is fixed. I suspect that your problem might continue, in which case you would want to look into general DB connection failures that are unrelated to our plugin and maybe even not related to WordPress.

If moving the plugin folder fixed it, is your database perhaps rate limited? Does it shutoff a DB user if too many queries are performed, or perhaps if the queries are over a certain threshold? If so, it sounds like you might need to disable that sort of limiting for our plugin to work. While our plugin is incredibly optimized for speed it still relies on extending WP_Posts, which means that it has lots of WordPress overhead when it comes to performing DB queries. In short, the queries can be rather large and numerous at times.
