    Howdy,

Opening a Web Story now leads to this message:
There was an error generating the web story, probably because of a server misconfiguration. Try contacting your hosting provider or open a new support request.

Have tried disabling all plugins (except Web Stories), deleting caches, creating a Firewall Bypass Rule in Cloudflare, running in Troubleshoot Mode (with twenty twenty theme), clicking/un-clicking different combinations of using Google Cache and Optimize Videos…all to no avail.

    Site health good, everything updated.

I’d be happy to share the Site Health site info privately.

I’ve read through the documentation as well but could use some information on the server configurations that would allow this to work so I can approach our host.

    Thanks for any help ??

  • Hi @steighne thanks for reaching out. Can you just first confirm if this is happening in the Web Stories editor or when going to a live published Story page?

I can see that https://thelyricsproject.org/web-stories/gina-chavez-snapshot/ is loading and passes AMP validation so looks good.

If this is an issue with viewing your stories in the editor then it would be great to get your Site Health Information privately via this form.

It would also be helpful to know if when getting this issue do you see any console errors?

Hi @adamdunnage thank you very much for the reply.

We have come to the conclusion that the problem was in the memory_limit in php.ini (which was set to 64M and raised to 256M).

The issue occurred on the front end (when loading the preview or story). Only once did the problem lead to the editor reloading after a few seconds. It also seemed to throw an error in the checklist that the story may not be compatible with Google. After raising the memory limit, those issues have disappeared.

I hope this is helpful for future users and as you develop.

Again thanks for taking a look and the time.

@steighne Thank you for coming back and confirming this! Very useful to know and glad to hear that you have found the cause and resolved the problem.

If you do encounter any further issues please feel free to open a new topic and we will be happy to help.
