Error in Link Categories (Dashboard)

Hi, I’m having the same error on the link categories option. Nevertheless I’m able to create link categories when I add a new link.

I was’nt using the blogroll before I upgraded, but after the upgrade the default link category and the WordPress links in it disappeared.

I have upgraded to 2.7.1 version from 2.3, tried deactivating plugins but it does’nt work.

I appreciate any suggestions

Have any solutions to this been found? I’m having the exact same issue (everything is the same, including the reference to line 178).

I saw this in 2.8 after a migration from Drupal to WordPress and finally had enough so I hooked up an IDE with a debugger. I finally narrowed it down to a problem with the default links category. Try going into Settings – Writing and specifying default categories for posts and links. Even if they’re already selected, click “Save Changes” anyway.

Me too. And there is a blank space on the Writing settings page where the Link Category should show up.

I finally created a new link, then in the editing window, clicked on “+Add Category” and was able to create a category “Blogroll” which subsequently appeared in my Link Categories, but I still get the error when I go to the Link Categories page.

…and I cannot make any subcategories. The Link Categories page contineus to show the string error / line 178 and the admin menu at left is kind of “frozen” (i.e. arrows don’t drop down the options). Here’s a link to a screenshot of the terms_taxonomy table in PHPMyAdmin; I notice that the Link categories do not match the term IDs as Post categories do… does this provide any clues? Help!

@ardvark : it didn’t work for me the first time but FINALLY, after creating a couple of link categories from within the “Add Link” panel, I went to Settings/Writing as you suggested and selected (created in fact) a default link category — it was previously missing, and VOILà yay!
