    Hello everyone,

I am contacting you because I am encountering certain problems with the merchant and product update sheets that I am not sure how to solve: The first mistake has to do with merchant tokens.

In Google Search Console I am notified that the following fields are missing:

I would like to know if I can add a rule to correct these errors. Although it says that it is not strictly necessary, for us it is because it interferes with other functionalities, such as reviews.

On the other hand, I have not been able to update the product sheets for days, since January 4. Before that date I could only update it by going to the product feed, but now it does not update. Does anyone know how I can check why?

Thank you very much in advance

  • Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to WooCommerce Plugin Support. I understand you are experiencing some issues with your merchant and product update sheets.

The first issue you mentioned is related to the missing fields in Google Search Console. These fields are optional and not required by WooCommerce, but they can help improve your SEO and display of your products on Google. To add these fields, you need to use a plugin that can generate and customize the schema markup for your products. One such plugin is Yoast SEO, which has a WooCommerce add-on that can help you optimize your products for Google. You can also use Schema Pro, which is a dedicated plugin for creating and managing schema markup for your site.

To use these plugins, you need to install and activate them on your WordPress site, and then follow their instructions to configure the settings and map the fields to your products. You can also use their documentation and support resources for more guidance.

The second issue you mentioned is related to the product update sheets. I assume you are referring to the CSV files that you use to import or update your products in WooCommerce. There are a few possible reasons why your product sheets are not updating, such as:

    • The CSV file is not formatted correctly or has invalid data.
    • The CSV file is too large or has too many rows. You can try splitting the file into smaller chunks or reducing the number of columns or images per product.
    • The import process is interrupted or timed out by your server or hosting provider. You can try increasing the PHP memory limit, max execution time, and max input time on your server. You can also contact your hosting provider and ask them to check the server logs for any errors or warnings.

To import or update your products using CSV files, you need to go to Products → All Producsts → Import and follow the steps to upload your file and run the importer.

I hope this information helps you fix the issues with your merchant and product update sheets. Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

I think I have not explained well. I’m going to take a product from my online store as an example, and I’ll visually show you my problem. Sorry that the images appear in Spanish, I will explain it to you in as much detail as possible.

I will take the example of the product KIT OPTIMA MARBELLA 3P (86->98) – PANDA 3P (83->03): https://negrillo.es/compra-barras-de-techo-bacas/kit-optima-marbella-3p-86-98-panda-3p-83-03/

This recommendation appears in Google Search Console, which says that the “description” field is missing:

As you can see, the description appears on the web page, even if I search for the product listing in Google Merchant Center it appears with the description:

However, when checking the Google Search Console rich results test, the description field also appears to be missing:

This is what makes me not understand anything that is happening. We already use the Yoast SEO plugin and it does not give any type of error, so I think that is not the problem. That is why I have previously asked about the possibility of creating a custom rule so that the Google Listings & Ads plugin detects it as a description, in this case.

    Hello @cberzosabc,

    Thank you for reaching out!

This recommendation appears in Google Search Console, which says that the “description” field is missing:

I don’t believe this has to do with the Google Listings & Ads plugin. The description is being passed to the merchant center as you’ve demonstrated in the screenshot.

If I understand correctly, the issue is related to indexing. Since you’re using Yoast, I suggest checking this guide on configuring product descriptions: Yoast Guide – Product Descriptions in WooCommerce SEO

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, please reach out to Yoast’s support for further assistance. You can find their support forum here: Yoast Support Forum
