I am having trouble connecting a client’s website with Google Analytics. It first says that “Site Kit has already been configured by another administrator of this site.” even if i am logged in with the admin user, and my client has given me permissions in the analytics flow.

When I click in “login with google”, it always appears this white screen with the message “Proxy ID request failed with an error: site not found Get help.”

I have tried removing the flow to create a new one, but now I can’t access Google Analytics (although my client has given me permissions to access her account), and it shows me another error “Missing permissions. You do not have access to the account, property or view. Contact an Analytics administrator who has the Manage Users permission.”

I don’t know what else to do! Please help me i have been stuck here for over 2 weeks ??

Thanks for reaching out @juliaarenass. Based on your comments, it sounds like dashboard sharing has been configured. Given both you and your client are running into issues, we can perform some checks based on your experience. To proceed, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.??
    2. Do you recall having tried a plugin reset in the last 2 weeks? Note that by resetting, the plugin will revert to it’s default state and all previously connected users will need to go through the set up process once more. You don’t necessarily need to reset right now, I’m just wondering if at some stage you did reset.
    3. When you were trying to configure Site Kit for your client, did you use their own wp-admin login, or did you initially use your own individual login, and then try to set up from theirs?

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. Once we have this information we can guide you through some troubleshooting checks that will hopefully allow you and your client to use Site Kit as expected.

@bakshu77 Certainly we’d be happy to assist. If you’d like to open an individual support topic we can communicate with you from there. Please include any details relevant to what you’re experiencing. This may include sharing your Site Health information.

I also took a quick peek on your website and I can see that the Google Analytics snippet has been placed via Site Kit. I’ll keep an eye out for your topic. Thank you!

Hi @jamesosborne thanks for being so fast!

    1. I have just shared the Site Health information in the form you provided.
    2. I did try to reset the plugin, but as it shows that screen with “Site Kit has already been configured by another administrator of this site.”, i don’t have access to any other settings more than the Site Kit desk so i cannot reset it.
    3. I did initially login in wordpress with my own wp-admin login, and when I saw that screen with the problem and so, I logged in with my client’s wp-admin, but it says the same thing and shows the same screens with the error.

Thanks! I see forward for your response as soon as possible! <3

Thanks for sharing @juliaarenass. From reviewing the details I can see one connected user count, while the verification remains status appears an unverified.

I did try to reset the plugin, but as it shows that screen with “Site Kit has already been configured by another administrator of this site.”, i don’t have access to any other settings more than the Site Kit desk so i cannot reset it.

Based on this, can you revisit the Site Kit dashboard from your own administrator account. After doing so, please reset the plugin (Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit). Once you reset, you should be able to set up the plugin once more. If you were not able to access the reset option via Site Kit > Settings, the alternative method above will allow you to access a reset option.

I did initially login in wordpress with my own wp-admin login, and when I saw that screen with the problem and so, I logged in with my client’s wp-admin, but it says the same thing and shows the same screens with the error.

I understand. If you set up Site Kit using your own Google account and your own WordPress administrator account, permissions errors can occur if your client logs in to the site with their own profile and then uses their own Google account to connect the plugin. This Google account may not have access to the Google Analytics account that you previously connected. We did introduce dashboard sharing so other users (ie. Your client) doesn’t need to login with their own Google account.

Let me know how you get on with the reset above, or ask if you have any questions. Thank you!

Oh thanks! I have finally reset the plugin :))))) Now I have another issue hahaha, as I, from my analytics account that has been shared with my clients analytics account, eliminated the website flow to try to reset it, I am facing a trouble: i cannot acces my analytics accoun anymore, it just keeps refreshing and showing the message “Missing permissions. You do not have access to the account, property or view. Contact an Analytics administrator who has the Manage Users permission.” My client has given me again permissions, as I received the email again, but it does not work. How can i solve this?

    Thanks!!!!!

Glad you were able to reset the plugin.

Regarding missing permissions, it sounds like your client may have not granted you the full required access, or maybe they granted you access to a different property from the correct Google Analytics account (Each account can have multiple properties).

You’ll know if you do have access to the property by visiting Google Analytics directly and accessing from there (analytics.google.com).

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Is there any way that i can like “restart” my analytics account? because this morning i accessed by teamview to my clients’ laptop to check analytics permissions, and I was given the admin role… it seems like it has cacheed himself or something…

If you are certainly you do have access to the connected Google Analytics property, you can ask the client the share a recording of the permissions and I can take a look. Within the recording demonstrate your client viewing the Site Kit dashboard, and then clicking on the ”Source: Analytics” link from the dashboard. After that, clicking on the “Admin” cog icon on the bottom left and then “Property access management”. They can use a service such as Loom to share a screen recording, while using the same form previously used to share this privately.?

Before suggesting this to your client, you may wish to share a screenshot of what you see from the Site Kit dashboard, while also confirming that the currently connected Google account you used to set up the plugin, is the one they granted you access to. You can see your connected Google account by clicking on the icon on the top right of the Site Kit dashboard.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
