I keep seeing Anonymous users trying to login and failing with my custom admin user name. But I look and they are not locked out. I check the wp-security-log and I see the following:
    [07/15/2015 11:06 PM] – FAILURE : event_logger: Error inserting record into wp_aiowps_events

So it seems that something isn’t right and it’s not auto-locking out users who are failing login.

Under User Login – It is enabled, Max Login Attempts = 3, Login Retry Period = 10, Time Length of Lockout = 14400, Instantly Lockout invalid users is Enabled.

Hi, do you have any other security plugin installed?

I do not. Just this one. I changed my main user name so that I could trap all of those trying to login since it is now invalid. But was hoping the original settings would work.

Hi, can you disable the plugin and enable the plugin again. Do you still receive the error message?

Can you explain further what you mean by the following comment.

But was hoping the original settings would work.

Ok.. I deactivated it, and reactivated it, then let it re-apply the settings to the .htaccess file.

What I mean before was that I had hoped that the failed login attempt settings would apply because I had them locked out for longer periods of time and didn’t have to change my main admin user name. But I have done that now. So not sure if they will find the new name now, since I also changed how it was displayed and am not advertising it anymore.

Hi, I am glad you have it all set up now. Thank you for providing the extra information in regards to my question above.

If you have enabled one of the Brute Force features, it is very unlikely they will discover your secret word.

If your issue is resolved can you mark this support thread as resolved.

    Thank you

I’m not sure if we actually fixed anything. I changed the configuration by changing my main admin id to trap users for Lockout using that feature instead of “exceeding max retry” events.
