“Error: Invalid nonce.” at login screen

  • Ever since I installed the WP Super Cache plugin (which I have now removed) I have been getting this error message each time I try to login to my WordPress: “Error: Invalid nonce.”

    I run the latest WordPress platform and I am connected through Jetpack. I use the “Login with WordPress.com” feature to sign in, but I get the issue with the alternative to “Login with username and password” as well. This error is random, and does not happen each time. I would say it happens 9 out of 10 times.

    Here are things I’ve tried already:
    -I’ve removed WP Super Cache plugin.
    -I’ve reinstalled WordPress.
    -I’ve removed the Jetpack plugin and reinstalled it.
    -I’ve cleared my browser cache.
    -I’ve tried using other browsers, the problem persists.

    I would really appreciate some additional support to help get rid of this error message permanently.

    When you reinstalled WordPress, did you create a new database or kept using the old one?

    That’s something that I am not familiar with. I reinstalled WordPress from my Dashboard. Would creating a new database cause the loss of any information in the design or content?

    This actually seems to be a Jetpack error, as I am getting the same issue on another website, hosted through a different provider and on which I have never installed WP Super Cache. What could have happened?

    I also get this error when I try to login through the “Log in with WordPress.com”, but not when I log in with a username and password. I also have Jetpack installed.

    That sounds strange. I am using JetPack but I’m not experiencing any error.

    In the meantime, disable JetPack until we fin the source of the error
