error invoice number?

Some customers receive a message during checkout that they must enter an invoice number. But this isn’t a field at all on our checkout page? As a result, they cannot complete their payment. How can I fix this so that customers no longer get this message? Not all customers receive this message. Also we don’t work with invoice numbers…
