• I keep getting this WP error message off and on all day long instead of where my site should be: Error establishing a database connection. What are some of the reasons that this might be happening?

It has been intermittent all day long and has happened on two different computers, so I assume that it is happening to all.

I can access specific files on the site, so I know that the host is there doing its thing. Any ideas?

    Site is: https://babygotbooks.com

  • Any ideas?

Contact your host and ask them what’s up?
    Check error logs?

If it helps, I can assure you that it’s not a typical WordPress behavior. ??

I’ll do that. I just checked it out on a third machine, same problem. Thanks.

    My experience:
Running PHP version 4.4.4 in conjunction with MySQL 5.0.22 or there around on a Windows server with IIS resulted in the same error message for me.

What I did was to uppdate the libmysql.dll and add the php4ts.dll. These files can be downloaded from https://www.phpdeveloper.org/news/6143 among other places.

Thus this is not a WordPress failure, but a compatibility issue with PHP and MySQL.
