• (1) I get 403 Forbidden when I tried to (a) open my website (b) log into my website’s www.ads-software.com backend – https://www.domain.com/wp-admin.

But everyone else (using different WIFI IP address) can open and log-in backend

    (2) However when I am not in my home-office (ie using others’ WIFI), (a) I can open my website (b) still cannot login to my website wordpress backend – error message something like “you have been logged-out because too many attempts”. In both instances “403 Forbidden does not appear.

    (3) 3/27/2015 I upgraded my WordPress from 3.5.? to latest version including all plug-ins.

    (4) is it e-Panel or wordpress backend blocking?

    Your help is appreciated.

  • Hi there! I’m also having the same issue. My desktop, laptop, smartphone, safari, firefox, all say 403 forbidden when I go to the address. This happened after I tried to login. I contacted my host and they were able to access my site and login with no problem. I started thinking, and turned off the wifi on my smartphone and accessed my site no problem. I’ve cleared the cache, tried to reset safari tried to clear my dns cache but I’m still getting that error. Any help would be great appreciated!

Ps. I just upgraded wordpress a few days too?

403 forbidden means that your browser isn’t able to load the scripts up because your server isn’t allowing it. This is a hard one to solve. Because anything could be blocking the server.
    – Most likely this is a server permissions/ownership issue, so ask your host what’s going on
    – check your .htaccess files for anything strange.

I upgraded my WordPress from 3.5.?

    – did you upgrade directly from 3.5 to 4.1.1 or did you perform incremental update?
    – It’s best tp perform incremental update: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Upgrading_WordPress_-_Extended_Instructions

    @fumbling,

My suggestion would be to start your own thread to get full attention to your specific issue. Despite any similarity in symptoms, your issue is likely to be completely different because of possible differences in physical servers, accounts, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc. Thus one problem, on one setup is not indicative of the functionality and reliability of an application as a whole. So, to get the best attention to your specific issue as you deserve, please review how and where to post in this forum: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Forum_Welcome#Where_To_Post

When I opened .htaccess in my cPanel/File Manager, I only see a “#”. What should i see and do?

    @ Tara

I tried again to edit .htaccess:
    (1) went to public_html/wp-content/uploads/ithemes-security
    (2) copied and rename another ,htaccess-old
    (3) Edit .htaccess; Select character encoding = utf-8
    (4) message is “Deny from all”
