Error message about REST API in WordPress Site Health

    Hi everbyody,

    the plugin seems to prevent access to the WP REST API, even though the corresponding checkbox in AIOWPS settings is not set.

    Site Health Check is giving me an error message:
    Calling the REST API resulted in the following unexpected result: (403) <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN"> <html><head> <title>403 Forbidden</title> </head><body> <h1>Forbidden</h1> <p>You don't have permission to access this resource.</p> <p>Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.</p> </body></html>.

    When I disable AIOWPS and reload the website state, the message disappeared. Is this issue known and is there a solution for it?

    Normally when we see HTML in an error, it’s due to a conflict, can you deactivate your other plugins and see if the error persists. If it does not then can you reactivate your other plugins one by one until you find the conflicting one.

    That’s what I tried first. Even if all plugins are disabled except AIOWPS, this error message remains. It only disappears when I disable this plugin as well.

    Can you go to your wp-admin / Settings / Permalinks and chane the permalink structure, save it, change it back to your original settings and then hitting save again.
    Do you still get the warning?

    It looks like the firewall has blocked the request/response. Can you try after disabling firewall rules?

    Disabling firewall rules didn’t help. I don’t dare to change the permalink structure because I want to avoid breaking the page. The permalink structure has also been the same for years. Nothing has ever changed about it.

    @fgruen Please ensure that you have not ticked the “Disallow Unauthorized REST Requests” checkbox in the Admin Dashboard > WP Security > Miscellinious > WP REST API as indicated in the screenshot https://nimb.ws/K5L8br.

    it could have quite possibly been caused by a corrupt .htaccess file. Can you try resaving your permalinks twice in order to regenerate .htaccess.
