I recently reinstalled the software and was running the malware scan and see this error message:
Unexpected response code: 503. Error: Error
    Stage: frontend_analysis

I haven’t changed any settings but don’t know what caused the error.

    Hello, @vanessa6297

Please, deactivate the CleanTalk plugin with the Complete Deactivation option:
WordPress Admin Page —> Settings —> Security by CleanTalk —> General Settings —> enable “Complete Deactivation” —> Save Changes.
Plugins —> Installed plugins —> Security by CleanTalk —> Deactivate and Activate

    Did it help?

Thanks, I’ll try this. I’ll run a new scan on Tuesday. If I have any other issues I’ll follow up with this question.

Edit: the error message during scan now states this: Nonce had been changed. Please, restart the scan.
    Stage: frontend_analysis

I ran a new scan and I see the previously posted error. It still displays an error on the front-end analysis it’s not displaying the 503 error.

    the dashboard states the following:

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or that contact with the database server at localhost could not be established. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Could you please disable the “Use WordPress HTTP API” option?

WordPress Admin Page —> Settings —> Security by CleanTalk —> General Settings —> disable “Use WordPress HTTP API” —> Save Changes.

Edit: I turned off the use WordPress API but still encounter this error message during a new scan: Nonce had been changed. Please, restart the scan.
    Stage: frontend_analysis

I’ll try this and update the post if there are any further issues.

Every update I tried to run yesterday after following the original instructions I seem to encounter an error. It is a 503 server connection error or a Nonce had been changed. Please, restart the scan.
    Stage: frontend_analysis error.

I deactivated the Use WordPress HTTP API in the security plugin and clean talk antispam but still have errors.
We are back to the following error message:

Unexpected response code: 0. Error: timeout
    Stage: frontend_analysis

I’m going to reach out to my hosting provider and see if they can give me some clarity on the issue as well while I wait for your reply.
