Error message for client?

Everything works well as far as processing goes.
However, when a client enters a wrong card#, the field simply shows a red outline.
For most of us, that is an indication that something is wrong with the card#, but many (especially the chronologically experienced users), just don’t get that.
Is there anyway to get an error message displayed in a small popup tooltip or similar that let’s the client know what the problem is?
