• My client got an error message from Post SMTP that had the wrong URL in the ‘From’ address:

    From: dev-akg.pte6eqsy-liquidwebsites.com <[email protected]>
    Date: Sun, Jun 28, 2020, 7:57 PM
Subject: https://www.akgmotorsport.com: Post SMTP email error
    To: <[email protected]>

dev-akg.pte6eqsy-liquidwebsites.com was a development site that’s been gone for about 5-6 months. Where would I find/change this information? It doesn’t exist in the database.

  • 3 options:

    1. plugin settings
    2. Someone added a code that injects it to post smtp (theme functions.php).
    3. the from coming from another plugin, like forms plugin.

    1. For plugin settings I have ‘validate email’ disabled, and also the ones for preventing other plugins from changing email address or name.

    2. Nothing like that in functions.php

    3. The error refers to a user who put in the wrong email address in a WooCommerce order, nothing in settings like that.

There’s no instance of the old URL in the database for the site, either.

The only place I see the old URL is in the error email header, the one instance that I pasted above…
