Error message styling

Hi there

is there any information/way to get the error messages for all fields to be the same? For example, a xprofile fields checkbox and the default buddypress username validate on screen when left out and show a nice pop-up.

however, an xprofile field multi-select field dont show the pop-up error message next to the field – it shows a completely unstyled error message at the top of the page where buddypress shows an alert error message for example when a username is already taken.

any advice appreciated / if someone else has made this more consistent?
