Error message: verify_secrets_missing

    Hello, I use Jetpack for social sharing icons on my website.

    I noticed the social sharing icons stopped appearing on the site yesterday. I updated Jetpack to the newest version. After updating and activating, I was prompted to connect the site to WordPress.com.

    When I tried connecting to WordPress.com, I received the following error message:

    Your Jetpack has a glitch. Something went wrong that’s never supposed to happen. Guess you’re just lucky: verify_secrets_missing
    Try connecting again.

    This error message has persisted after several attempts.

    How can I fix this problem? I’m wondering if it has something to do with the WordPress.com account that is connected to the site.

    Previously, my WordPress.com account was never connected to this site. Is there a way I can switch the WordPress.com account connected to this site to mine?

    I did some more digging and decided to delete, reinstall and activate Jetpack.

    This solved the problem. I was able to connect to my WordPress.com account and social sharing icons are appearing again.
