Error message when i try to import blog posts from another wordpress blog

    Hi everyone,

    I am currently trying to import all my blog post from my wordpress blog version 3.9.2 on lifestyle child theme to my new wordpress 4.0 site in Divi theme under construction…I’ve tried twice but an error message appears that says: “File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. The error could also be cause by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini”.

    There are 98 posts with videos and photos and articles, so I don’t see how it could be too small.

    And I don’t know what php.ini is or where to find it.

    I’d appreciate any help with this.

    Check the size of your file, and ask to your hosting support about this part of the error message:

    The error could also be cause by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini”.

    Hi Samuel,

    The size is 62.9MB of the file ~ is this too small or too big??

    I will also call my hosting support but I mentioned it the other day and they said it’s a wordpress issue and not hosting (GoDaddy). I will check with them again.

    So I contacted GoDaddy and they adjusted the size that I could upload. I also cleared all browsing history and caches as they suggested.

    I re-imported the same file and it added 4 extra posts than the first import but still only until Jan 2013.

    So I created a new export file only with the remaining posts needed dated from Jan 2013 until now, Nov 2014 (and noticed the file size is exactly the same as the file size of the original where I wanted ALL blog posts although I just chose this limited dates this time…62.9MB) And did the import again. This time it added 2 new posts since the last import.

    But still missing the latest years worth of posts.

    Any suggestions as to what to do next as I don’t want to have to keep creating new exports and imports for it to add 2 posts at a time!

    Update: I tried the import again with the original export file that contains all posts. It added around 3-4 extra posts but this Fatal Error message appeared: Fatal Error: Allowed memory size of 268433456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1 bytes) in home/indianajane/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php online 1040.

    What to do now?
