• I’ve uploaded 2.8 via fantastico and then unzipped the theme.

This is the error message I get:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function bloginfo() in /home/physical/public_html/KnockBalls.com/index.php on line 4

What am I doing wrong, if anything?

  • you put the theme in the wrong directory.

    themes go inside wp-content/themes

youve unpacked the theme files to the root of your install (where your wp-config.php is)

In that process of doing that, you overwrote the proper index.php with theme uploaded theme’s index.php

to fix that immediate error you will want to upload the /home/physical/public_html/KnockBalls.com/index.php that belongs there. It can be found inside the zip on the download page. See the orange link above.

If this is all to troublesome for you, and you havent posted anything. than delete your new install and start over.

Thanks for that… I will now go and delete the previout install and start over then report back. Thanks again!

Ok, re-installed 2.8 and then extracted the zip file that was given to me. It was given to me by someone who has no technical experience BTW, so I had to turn to the help of people here. Previously I thought I just extract the files into the main directory, but that got me into the trouble above. So perhaps you might be able to tell me what directory each file needs to go in by it’s name? Here is the list:

    comments-popup.php
    omments.php
    footer.php
    functions.php
    images/
    images/background.jpg
    images/body-bg.jpg
    images/content_bg.jpg
    images/content_spacer.jpg
    images/footer.jpg
    images/header-img.jpg
    images/icon.gif
    images/nav_bg.jpg
    images/order_now.jpg
    images/rap-bg.jpg
    images/spacer.gif
    images/spacer.jpg
    images/submit-button.jpg
    images/Thumbs.db
    images/_notes/
    images/_notes/header-img.jpg.mno
    index.php
    style.css

    Thanks for your advice.

    I already told you.

    themes go inside wp-content/themes

when you unzip/unpack/unarchive themes that are inside zip — they unzip/unpack/unarchive into a folder/directory that usually corresponds to the name of the theme.

Look at how the default and classic themes are located inside wp-content/themes/
