• Hello

I have been using Contact form 7 for years and I have never had any problems.
Thank you for your good work!!

Now I have the problem on one page that I can’t save changes. The message “The link you followed has expired” appears. Please try again.” I can install the plugin without any problems and with the default settings it also works and sends mails.
But if I want to customize or add fields and save them, then the error appears…

All variables in PHP (limit, max_vars, etc) are correct and sufficient and everything else works fine without any problems.

What else could be the reason for this error?

    Many Thanks and Regards

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    The website is on
If you provide me with a mail address, I will gladly send you an account as administrator, if desired.

Thank you very much for enriching WordPress with a very good and important plugin, which is also free!

If you provide me with a mail address, I will gladly send you an account as administrator, if desired.

Don’t make that offer, if the author accepts then they will get into some real trouble here.

Had the author made that ask (they did not) then this would be my reply.

I’ve deleted your offer to login to your user’s site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials. I have flagged your account temporarily. That just means that your post will need to be approved and @ notifications from you will not work.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.

It’s not safe and no one should do that.

Edit: Yes, I do not think the author would ever do this as he’s Very Cool™ I am just explaining is all. ??

Right. I only provide support here, the public community-based support forums.

You seem to have added the URL of the website, so I will check the page.

Now I have the problem on one page that I can’t save changes. The message “The link you followed has expired” appears. Please try again.”

On which page do you see this message? And, do you see exactly this message, or German version of this?

The message does appear only on the back end.
Front end is working fine. Mails are also sent, everything works on the user side.

However, if I want to make adjustments in the backend, like change e-mail address or add fields and then save, the error message appears, in this case in German.

What other plugins and theme do you use on the site?

    Hi there,

I have the exact same issue.
“The link you followed has expired” appears when saving any form.

    WP version: 5.2.2
    CF7 version: 5.1.4

    – I can add a new form without any problems.
    – The problems only appears when saving a form.
    – I checked all php variables and set them to max possible values
    – Switching themes and deactivating plugins didn’t help either

I would love to hear (any directions towards) a solution!

Try switching theme to the default (Twenty Nineteen or Twenty Seventeen) and deactivating all the plugins excluding Contact Form 7 and Yoast SEO.
