• I built this site a number of years ago and today notice that the WP Geo Google map is no longer working. Instead it produces the following message:

Geocode was not successful for the following reason: REQUEST_DENIED

    and on the Google map:

    Google
This page can't load Google Maps properly

The site uses the theme ‘Brankic’ and the script bra_google_map to pull it in.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    The console error says

Geocoding Service: You must use an API key to authenticate each request to Google Maps Platform APIs. For additional information, please refer to https://g.co/dev/maps-no-account

You must have a registered API (with a credit card backing it) to use Google maps.

What plugin are you using for the map?

I’m not really sure. I’m using a component of the Brankic WP theme called ‘WP Geo Location’. The script on the page looks like this: [bra_google_map location="Banbury" zoom="15"]

I’ve now added the WP Geo plugin to my WP site. And I’m trying to make sense of Google API keys. But I don’t really know what I’m doing.

As far as I can tell, the problem is due to Google adding the requirement for an API key. But I’m not clear how to fix this (preferably quickly) in my specific WP site.

    Can you help?

Because you’re using a commercial theme/plugin, please use their official support channel. We feel they are best equipped to support their products.
