I didn’t used to get these error messages, but now, every time I create a new subsite I get these error messages (I’ve replained my domain name with “maindomain” for security):

Warning: fopen(/nfs/c08/h04/mnt/123041/domains/maindomain.com/html/wp-content/plugins/idrive-for-wordpress/idrive.php) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /nfs/c08/h04/mnt/123041/domains/maindomain.com/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4339

Warning: fread(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /nfs/c08/h04/mnt/123041/domains/maindomain.com/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4342

Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /nfs/c08/h04/mnt/123041/domains/maindomain.com/html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4345

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /nfs/c08/h04/mnt/123041/domains/maindomain.com/html/wp-includes/functions.php:4339) in /nfs/c08/h04/mnt/123041/domains/maindomain.com/html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 934

I know that the first error has to do with when I tried to use idrive backup plugin on multisite, and it didn’t work, so I removed it– but obviously not all of it.

The other errors I don’t have a clue what they are about….

When I go back to the dashboard and refresh from this error, then my new site is there, and the new sites seem to be working just fine.

Should I worry about this error at all, since it doesn’t ultimately seem to be affecting the adding of new sites? Or is it something that needs to be taken care of, and if so, what do I need to do?

    Thanks!

  • You do need to go and check each sub site to see if any of those had the one plugin activated to clear it up now that it;s been deleted.

Thanks for your reply, Andrea! It did make sense that one site might still have idrive activated, but I’ve gone through now and checked all the sites — none of them had idrive activated.

I did ftp into functions.php & pluggable.php to check out those lines, and I’m now thinking that all these errors are related to try to open that non-existent file…

Any other advice about where to look for the source of this error?

Did you go to every site’s plugins page? Sometimes a deleted plugin doesn’t fully turn off until you do.

Thanks, Ipstenu! Yes, I did go to each site’s plugin page. And none of them had any visible remnants of the plugin…

The only reason a NEW site would be having that issue, would be if you were using something to push plugin settings to all new sites.

Aha! I’ve been using Multisite Plugin Manager to auto-activate the core plugins on new sites. It didn’t have any reference to idrive in its settings, but I clicked “update options” on its settings page, and created a test site with no errors.

    Thanks to both of you!
