Error: mysqli_set_charset()

  • Since today my site is broken I get the following error message when WP_DEBUG is turned on:
    Warning: mysqli_set_charset(): Error executing query in /webspace/15/66992/lky-arctec.de/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 772

    I deactivated all Plugins, switched the Theme, reinstalled WordPress (both, the latest Version and 4.2.2) and did a Database reset.

    Unfortunately, none of this has fixed the problem

    What could be the reason of the problem and how can I fix it?
