• Hello,

I’ve been using Contact Form 7 in around 100 WP sites without an issue… until now.
There’s always a first time they say!

It’s installed fine under WP 4.5.1 but the default Form (and any other that I try to create) looks like this:
    [contact-form-7 id=

If I try to edit them, the Forms look ok and keep all the parameters I set them up with but since the short code isn’t complete there isn’t a way to use them in the website.

I’ve tried 3 different installation methods: searching for it directly from the client’s site, uploading the zip file and uploading the unzipped files via FTP.

All gave me this same issue.
I’ve installed the same latest version in another website today without any problem.

My client is using the Theme Devine by HB Themes which since a few weeks is no longer supported by their team:

Has anyone seen this weird error in their Contact Form 7?

Try switching to the default theme. What other plugins do you use?

The error went away as I set a default WP Theme… and came back when I set their Theme or the Child theme we made based on that one.

So apparently the issue is Theme related, right?
    We can’t change their theme.
What else would you suggest us to do?

We noticed that the form ID is at the back office URL so we tried this:
    [contact-form-7 id=3041]
… and it worked for now but we wonder if the plugin will be stable.

Probably it’s a theme issue. I suggest you stop using the theme because the test result indicates that there are serious security problems in its code.

Thanks a lot for the warning.
Where can I see those test results?
I’d like to inform my client about them.

    Kindest regards.

I meant the result that you got the correct shortcode after switching theme to the default.

I did one more test and got a very interesting result.
We had also installed an extra plugin (I had forgotten for a second about it): Contact Form 7 MailChimp Extension

It works fine in our other sites but apparently not here (probably because of the Theme I guess).

The thing is that once deactivated, we’ve been able to send the Forms without issues.
They still look odd in the back office (incorrect shortcode) but as mentioned yesterday we managed to fix that adding the full code manually into our pages like this::
    [contact-form-7 id=3041]

Next step: I’m going to double check that new plugin config. I’m afraid it may be blocking our emails from going out because it wasn’t correctly set up.
Have you heard of such an error using that plugin in conjunction with yours?
Do you support a specific plugin for that?

If we can’t fix that then I’ll try to get the same feature (synchronizing Contact Forms with Mailchimp) using an ecternal tool like Zapier of IFTTT.
Would you recommend any other method?

Note: I do agree with you that our client should renew their site and move to a supported theme/template. And we will try to convince him about it asap.
