    Good night, Nobita.
I have upgraded to PHP 8.0 and it gives me an error on the page.
Can you help me please to fix the problem?
Those of the Hosting tell me that it is a problem of my page and not of them.

Now you will see that the page works, but it is because it is in PHP 7.4. But to continue using this option they charge me a very high monthly maintenance.

Thank you very much and I hope you had a great entry of 2023.

    Hi @estherramos

First, there are some things you should know about WordPress 6.1 and PHP version compatibility.

    https://make.www.ads-software.com/core/handbook/references/php-compatibility-and-wordpress-versions/

WordPress 6.1 does not officially support PHP8.0 and is in beta support.
I myself experienced a core program crash with PHP8.0.

If it’s a theme problem, I’ll look into how to fix it. Can you tell me what error message you get when you open which page?

You can find out which PHP version your WordPress users are using at the link below.

    https://www.ads-software.com/about/stats/#php_versions

The number of users using PHP8.0 is increasing, but it is still around 10%, and most are using 7.4.
I didn’t know that using PHP7.4 would incur extra maintenance costs. that’s a big problem

I am waiting for you to send me the error message and the page where it occurred.

    Thank you.

    Good night, Nobita.
The error appears on the home page. I change to PHP 8.0 and estherramos.com no longer loads. To keep the web working I have to go back to using PHP 7.4.
The error that appears to me is: This page does not work. The estherramos.com page cannot process this request at this time.
    HTTP ERROR 500.
There is an update to wordpress 6.1.1 that I haven’t done, but I’m sure you already know it from having entered my site.
Yes, it is a problem that they charge for the maintenance of PHP 7.4, because if not, I would leave it there.
I hope you can help me.
Thank you very much, as always, for your kindness.
Happy night or, perhaps for you, day…

When using PHP8.0 in combination with the Raindrops theme, the entire website will not be rendered unusable.
It’s most likely caused by a plugin. Deactivate any plugins you are currently using.

So check if the site can be displayed.
If the website can be displayed, please activate the deactivated plugins one by one and check if the website cannot be displayed when the plugin is activated.

    Thank you.

Note:Deactivating the plugin alone is not guaranteed to make your website viewable, but try it as a first step.
I’m thinking of next steps if this doesn’t work.
By the way, you need to know exactly what caused your website to go down.
For that, I need to edit wp-config.php.Is it possible to edit it?

Sad news, I tested with PHP8 in combination with your installed WordPress version.
The website could not be displayed due to a WordPress Core error.
It’s difficult to address with a theme.

If you want PHP8, you need to update to WordPress6.1.1.

    PHP8 + WordPress6.1.1 + Raindrops Theme worked.

    Thank you.

    Good night, Nobita.
It did indeed work when upgrading to 6.1.1.
    It already supports PHP 8.
Thank you very much, as always, for your enormous help and for solving all the problems.
I wish you the best for this 2023.
