It’s been a while, I was deactivating some plugins that I was testing for other purposes, but I don’t change anything, I just can’t change it as a meta description or title and maybe I am not updating a global meta description (that dynamic), it will be an error or incompatibility?

Extra question: How can I get the name of the page? If so, would it be% page%?

Note: I did not install any more plugins that may have noticed this problem, the ones I installed, disabled and the same error remained.

@makobaby01 Can you please let us know what is occurring when you try changing the title/meta description? Are you unable to edit it? Or is when you edit is is the field for title/meta description not appearing?

As for the name of the page, you wouldn’t use %page% as that is used for the page number. If you are trying to use the title you would use %title%. We also have a list of available template variables here: https://yoast.com/help/list-available-snippet-variables-yoast-seo/

It happens when I want to edit a post / page, it just doesn’t show up anymore, so I can’t edit the title or the meta description.

I suspect google, but I will report, I also feel that the meta description is not being changed from google, but this can take time

On question 2: I wanted to take only <h1> to be more precise, in my case it is a category, I wanted to take only the name of the category

Can you please confirm you are using the most recent Yoast v15.2.1? You can learn more about updating here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/

Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.2.3? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. ?If you update to the most current version of WordPress, does this resolve the issue?

If you have already confirmed that both Yoast SEO and WordPress are up to date and the issue is still occurring, we would next recommend performing a conflict check to determine whether another plugin or theme is interfering with the Yoast plugin. The fastest way to do this is to?deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme?like?Twenty Nineteen.?Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the?Health Check & Troubleshooting?plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check?without affecting normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

@devnihil I did a test on an old website that I have, put all the plugins in, activated them all and the plugin was not working, deactivated all that was not so important, left only the ones that are crucial to my website, and the plugin worked normally , I was activating one by one and continued working, until I activated them all and it worked, I didn’t understand much, but I suspect the theme.

I’m making a backup of my active site, and I will upload it to the test site and see if the problem occurs with the theme, I will return to you for more information or at best the origin of the incompatibility, ok?

Thanks for your confirmation of this. You can take your time to perform the conflict check on a staging site. Once you have the confirmed results, you can simply reply here.

That said if the current thread remains inactive for a week, it will be marked as resolved. However, if you still need further assistance on this, you can simply reply here and that will reopen the thread automatically for you.

this is very strange, I installed the test site, possibly I didn’t do it correctly, but it had all the plugins and the theme (but on the official site I use custom html codes, but not that it would affect) and the plugin worked without problems, with the same active plugins, what could be happening?

    Hi,

Hmmm. We would like some more information. We understand it may take some time to gather all the information but it will help us include or exclude certain possible causes.

    1. On the site with the issue if you delete the Yoast plugin (doing so will not hurt the SEO of the site) and then re-install it does the issue resolve? Note that you should re-install v15.2.1 for Yoast SEO.

We do recommend taking a backup of the site before deleting the plugin. If you are not sure how to do that, your host provider can help.

    2. The site that has the issue, can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.5.3?

    3. On the site with the issue, can you confirm that your server or if you are using a security plugin is not blocking any of those Yoast .js files like yoast-components-1521.js?

If you are not sure, your host provider can help.

    4. On the site with the issue, does it happen with a different browser like FireFox or Chrome?

    5. Are your browsers all updated?

    6. Does it happen in incognito mode or private mode? We ask as we have seen cases where certain browser plugins can affect how Yoast works. Those modes will disable the browser plugins.

    7. What machine are you using? Windows, Linux, Apple? Something else? Is it updated? If so, what version?

I don’t know what the problem was, nor the compatibility, but I do know that when I updated some pending plugins (I wait a while, because the plugins I use depend on another one)
And also the update of yoast seo, and it returned to work correctly!

Thank you very much for the great support that you support!
