I suspect this is a WordPress generic error message but I have not been able to figure it out.

I created a ConstantContact form (https://www.griffonloregames.com/about/), which returns this error:

“Please select at least one list to subscribe to.”

How do I have this form to use the subscriber list that I made? I can see options for having people choose more than one list (which doesn’t work either), but I want the form to input on the already existing subscriber list.

Related, the “associated list” on the list of forms in WordPress is blank for this form. But I haven’t been able to figure out how to change that, either. Querying the documentation doesn’t specifically talk about changing that field.

    Thanks,
    Anthony Pacheco

It may be a case of you visited the lists page and we didn’t know that that would help resolve the issue at the time. We’re still gathering info and resolution data.

    Thanks for responding Anthony.

That is exactly what I did when investigating fixes to the problem.

as of today, we believe we have isolated down to that part being the key fix for the moment, until we work out a solution for everyone. ??

I can confirm that visiting the Lists page in the WordPress admin seems to have resolved the issue, at least temporarily.

    @constantcontact any updates on a long-term fix?

    Hello,
Im getting the same error message. I’ve recreated the form as well, but nothing is working. Yes I connected it to our Constant Contact account too.
I have even selected all lists to choose from and it fails. There is no drop down showing to select which list to choose from so Im not sure what the UI is supposed to look like.

In the footer of this page is the WP plugin version and fails.
The main form on this page I had to create using the Constant Contact Sign-Up forms in our Constant Contact dashboard.

Ive enabled logging and debugging in the Constant Contact WP plugin Support area. I checked the logs and it is empty so unfortunately that’s no help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance

@gjhdigital Can you visit the lists page from our provided menu and click to have it run a sync?

Definitely seeing in the footer markup that it’s not providing any list data at all, which means it’s not managing to find important parts just yet.

    syncing did the trick!
    Thanks for your fast response!!!

I was getting the same error. Read through all the steps above, ended up deleting the inline form in the Constant Contact dashboard and recreating it, deactivating the WordPress plugin and re-activating, disconnecting it and re-connecting it, re-creating the form from wishing the plugin, and going to Lists and re-syncing the list.

Finally, after re-syncing the list, I was able to get it to work and the error disappears. It now says “Your information was submitted”.

However, when I go check the list to see that it worked, I cannot see that my test entry was added to the specified list. So it tells the person that they have successfully signed up, but they haven’t. Not sure what else I can do now.

P.S. I tried a few other sites I have CC forms on, same issue. They submit, but then when I login to CC to see if the person was indeed added to the list, they weren’t.

    Thanks

@wigglepit the messaging for the form is just to indicate that the contact details have been submitted successfully, however admittedly it’s not meant to indicate that the information has successfully gone all the way through to the list addition itself, that’s a different step that occurs afterwards.

Are you seeing any indication via new admin notice about any errors having occurred with Constant Contact? Regardless, let’s have you click onto our settings menu, and the Support tab. There should be a checkbox you can click on to enable debugging mode, and reveal a new menu item around Debug logs. I’m curious if anything got logged there.

Also, if you can provide the URL for where the form can be found, we can help with some test submissions to see if anything goes through.

Hi there, I did do the debug and it looks like it worked okay. I am wondering if there is a delay, I have seen both of my last two tests work, so I think this is resolved. Maybe it just needed some time to add to the list. Thank you!

Sounds about right. by default there is about a 1 min delay between submission success and sending off to the API. However, we found that a bit troublesome in the past when WP_CRON wasn’t working for some users, so we added a setting to disable that delay. Feel free to make use of that as well, as you see fit.

    Gotcha, thank you!

I am having this same problem!

@tools4tomorrow have any of the other discussed things to try out worked for you?

Yes. Reconnecting to the lists worked.
