    Jetpack Mechanic ??

When you share a post on Facebook, or when Jetpack Publicize publishes a post to your Facebook page, Facebook crawls the page and looks for Open Graph meta tags in the head to build a complete post preview (with an image, title, description, …).

You can see what Facebook sees by entering one of your posts’ URLs in Facebook Debugger:
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

    On your site, you have actually added 2 sets of Facebook Open Graph meta tags;

    • one is added by the WordPress SEO plugin, and contains correct information (with images)
    • The other set is added by another plugin, Shareaholic, and only contains an image tag, that is already added by WordPress SEO. I would consequently suggest that you remove it.

It’s also worth noting that Facebook only grabs images that are larger than 200px x 200px. If the images mentioned in your Open graph meta tags are smaller, they won’t appear on Facebook.
I believe that’s what happened with your example post: it includes the following image meta tag:
    https://www.assoc-amazon.es/e/ir?t=tierrquebr-21&l=as2&o=30&a=8496756629

As you can see, this image is 1px x 1px, and is consequently ignored by Facebook.

I hope this helps. If you have more questions about how WordPress SEO or Shareaholic grab images and define the open graph meta tags, I would suggest that you contact the plugin authors about this.

I’ll try to remove Shareaolic image tags.

In the other hand it’s true that this last post has 1px x 1px image from amazon i did’nt realize about it but when posting manually to facebook by default it shows the correct image.

There is another post not showing any image on facebook without 1px x 1px image and on tools/debug it shows the correct image but duplicate perhaps is about shareaholic image tags.

    Post url https://www.tierraquebrada.com/2013/el-enigma-de-goldbach/

I’ll make some corrections and changes in order to get it work again.
Tomorrow we post again and will check.

Many Thanks for the advices ??

    Hi again,

I’ve more information about the problem.

With no changes at all still there are posts that are published in facebook with images and others don’t.

This starts suddenly with no changes except a traffic increment.

Trying with facebook tools/debug don’t show erros but still trying again shows error 500.

Then could it be posible that error is when sending post to facebook the returns a 500 error code and then only is visible the link to post?

Is there any way to avoid or delay publishing if error 500 is returned?

We’re moving to another webserver and i think this should end with the problem but it would be great some control over this kind of erros if posible ??

    Thanks,

Since you use WordPress SEO and Shareaolic to managed Open Graph meta tags on your site, I’m afraid I won’t be able to help here.

Could you give me more details about this? if you get 500 errors when trying to access your site, that might explain the problem. If Facebook can’t reach your site when looking for information to build a post preview, then it won’t add any image to that preview.

You might want to look at your sites’ error logs in order to find out more about the 500 errors. If you do not have access to these logs, your hosting provider should be able to help.

I uninstalled and deleted Shareaolic plugin.
I moved from old server to new one. No more 500 errors.

Trying with debug tool url appears to be ok and shows image.

This is the new post not showing image.
    https://www.tierraquebrada.com/2013/frases-de-cautivo-de-las-tinieblas/

Image in this post is smaller than 200x200px but if i share the link in my personal acount by hand, it shows perfect.

?Is there a way to publicize images smaller than 200x200px or it must be done by hand?

I’ll try on friday with new posts and larger images and tell you.

    Thanks again for your help.

Since you’re using the WordPress SEO plugin, Jetpack doesn’t have any control over the images used when your post is publicized to Facebook. All the information is pulled from the meta tags added by WordPress SEO.

Facebook doesn’t recommend you to use images smaller than 200px x 200px in your image meta tags, as you can see when using the Facebook Debugger, but you can try to use small images and see if Facebook accepts them.
