• When trying to play a slideshow I receive the following error “slideshow requires the flash player and a browser with javascript support. All visitors to the site experience the same issue. This error started a few months ago and I recently upgraded (2.0.66) the NexxtGen Gallery plug as one of my troubleshooting steps and this did not resolve the issue. I am currently running WordPress 3.9.1 with Netfirms as my hosting company. Any help with this error would be great

@gducharme – Can you provide a link to your site, preferably to the post/page where this error is happening?

    Thanks!

@gducharme – Something on your site appears to be using (forcing?) an older version (1.6.1) of jQuery to be used and NextGEN Gallery requires the current version (as bundled with WordPress) to be used for it to function correctly.

I would suggest looking at your active plugins and possibly your theme as well.

    Thanks!

    Hello

As suggested I disabled all my plug-ins and cleared my casche and cookies and then re-enabled the Nexxtgen plug-in only and this seems to have resolved my issue above. I still need to determine which plug in(s) was causing the issue. During my troubleshooting I came across two new issues with the NexxtGen plug in

    1) When I go into slideshow mode some of the images are cut off and do not display correctly but when you click on the thumbnails none of the images are cur off

    2) The first page of thumbnails displays correctly but when I go to click on the additional thumbnail pages at the bottom I receive the following error “Gallery Not found please check settings”

For troubleshooting purposes the only plug currently enabled is the Nexxtgen plug in if you visit the following links you should have no problems viewing the 2 errors described above https://www.windsorclippers.com/album-2013/nggallery/2013/may-15-2013-vs-point-edward/slideshow

@gducharme – You appear to be using the “flash” slideshow, I would look at the settings you are using there as well as the size of the slideshow itself.

As to the issue with the “Gallery not found”, we are working on this known issue and are currently recommending a work-around to address the problem.

Go into Gallery > Gallery Settings > NextGEN Basic Thumbnails … and set the “Images per page” to 0. This should work in the short term.

Upon further troubleshooting I have found that the slideshow works error free when the NextGenn Gallery is the only plug in enabled. As soon as I attempt to enable a second plug in the error returns. It does not seem to matter which plug I pick from my list of plug ins the error returns. Sometimes I can get lucky and get 2 additional plug in activated before I get the error but there us no logic or pattern as to why the 2nd additional plug in activates before I see the error again, Each time I enable or disable a plug in I clear by browser cache before testing

I have included a list of my installed plug-ins with the version information.

    EWWW Image Oprimizer Ver. 1.1.9
    Image Widget Ver. 4.1
    League Manager Ver. 3.8.9
    NextGen Gallery Ver 2.0.66
    No Page Comment Ver. 1.0.4
    Page Link To Ver. 2.9.3
    Project Manager Ver. 3.0.4
    Sliding Widgets Ver. 1.1.0
    Ultimate TinyMCE Ver. 5.3
    W3 Total Cache Ver 0.9.4
    WP-DBManager Ver. 2.70
    WO Nail Form II 1.0.2

Any helps would be greatly appreciated

@gducharme – Was this while still using the “flash” slideshow or does this happen with both slideshow types?

As far as the plugins list goes. there is nothing that specifically jumps out as a conflict but I am not familiar with all of those plugins and even so, it could be a specific setting in one of them that may be causing the issue, such as how you have implemented the W3 Total Cache plugin (some of its settings will cause issues for some sites, but not all sites?!)

    Hi,

I tried to adjust the flash settings by going to Gallery on my side menu on my dashboard and then clicking on Gallery Setting followed by basic slideshow settings I changed the radio button for the enable flash slideshow to “No” I saved by settings and then cleared my casche and cookies. When I went back to the site the thumb nails for my album covers looked like broken images and did not display, If I click on the text to open the album the album would not open. I re-enabled the flash setting I had changed above and cleared my casche and cookies again and tried to access the site and even with the flash enabled the albums are still coming up as broken links. You should be able to see this behavior if you access the following link https://www.windsorclippers.com/album-2013/nggallery/2013/

I look forward to your reply..

@gducharme – There are now several errors showing in the console of the Chrome browser developer tools that may need to be addressed first.

I cannot see anything in particular with what you described above affecting this so there may be something else going on with the site.

You may need to go back to a baseline setup with a default WordPress Twenty series theme and only NextGEN Gallery activated ensuring all other plugins are deactivated and any and all caching plugins, services, and related files have been completely cleared (or removed if needed).

    Thanks for the additional info.

I have a few themes named 2012, 2013, and 2014 which are installed to my wordpresss but not activated. I do not know how these themes were installed. Is it possible that these non-active themes are causing part of my problem. If they are not active will I do harm if I delete them. I would assume you can only have one theme active at a time.

@gducharme – An inactive theme will not cause (or should not be able to cause) any issue with your site. Those are also the themes I was suggesting your choose from to temporarily switch to as part of the troubleshooting suggestions I made above.

It been a busy season so I had to stop troubleshooting this issue for a few weeks but I am now back at it. As recommended I switched the wp slash theme to the 2014 base template switch is included with WordPress. The only plug in currently activated the NexxtGen plug in. I cleared the cashe on the computer and to the best of my knowledge I also cleared the server casche. What is the best way to clear the casche on the server side. Now the thumbnails for the album cover will not load and when you click on the hyperlink the album will not even open. I have left the settings the way you recommended for testing so that you can see what is happening by visiting https://www.windsorclippers.com/album-2013/

What would you recommend as my next troubleshooting step

Thanks in advance for all your help

@gducharme – Your galleries appear to be “Linked to” your album page … have you tried setting the galleries to “not linked” under Gallery > Manage Galleries … click on the gallery to edit and then set the “Linked to page” to not linked?

    @ Cais

Keeping the 2014 theme enabled and the NexxtGen Gallery as the only activated plug in I have confirmed that the link to drop down box is set to not linked in all of the galleries
I also noticed that for some of the galleries the date next to the pictures on the bottom half of the gallery settings screen is set to January 1, 1970, When I put my mouse over the file name and choose to view the image I am booted back to main page of the dashboard.

@gducharme – I’m not seeing any differences in your site from what I saw before. We may need to have a look under the page to make any additional suggestions.

Please submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) with your site specifics. We will likely need log in and FTP credentials for your WordPress installation, please include those with your Bug Report.

    Thanks!
