    Hello,

We are using Forminator to collect form submissions and to accept payments via PayPal, Credit, & Debit Cards for monthly dues in our nonprofit organization.

All plugins, themes, and WordPress are updated to the latest versions.

The issue we are experiencing: “Error! Something went wrong when verifying the payment”

? Quite a few of our users are unable to submit our form successfully (desktop and mobile).
? The most common error (if not the only error) they receive upon filling out the form, clicking the pay with debit/credit card button, and hitting the “pay” button after inputting their card information = “Error! Something went wrong when verifying the payment”

I was able to recreate this awful error in Sandbox mode and tested via desktop and mobile. I get the same error when I test different card types (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc.) Visa has gone through but none of the others have in Sandbox for me.

I also read in the forums from another similar topic (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/paypal-not-working-with-calculated-fields/) that it could be because of decimal places in the calculation fields. We are sending the payments to PayPal and they charge 3% + .30 for every transaction. So our values will always have decimal places as the final price.

We are struggling to resolve this Error for our payment process and are unable to receive the money we are owed.

    Please help ASAP!!
    Thank you!

  • I am getting a similar problem. We have a calculated field, but all totals are an exact number of pounds. It is only happening occasionally, typically when people pay by card. We have reported to forminator under our support agreement but don’t have any very helpful diagnostic for them so far.
When we checked the paypal developer info, there are no failed transactions in our case.

    Hi @rizq @sallywhytehead

I hope you are doing good today.

We apologize for the inconvenience. This issue was reported by Forminator developers, but I’m afraid we can’t give an estimated time to release a fixed version. However, downgrading the plugin could be a temporary workaround.

You can download the previous version of Forminator at the bottom of this page https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/forminator/advanced/

As always, we suggest taking a full site backup before any changes on the site, like downgrading the plugin version.

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

    @wpmudev-support2,

Our users still receive the same error message when submitting their payments using the forminator plugin after we updated it to the newest version 1.14.8.

    Error Message:
“Error! Something went wrong when verifying the payment”

We will be forced to uninstall Forminator very soon and use a different plugin.

It is truly unfortunate, but our users are unable to submit payments to our nonprofit organization successfully.

    Hello @rizq ,

I’m sorry that it is still not working.

Before you uninstall Forminator, would you mind exporting the form and share it with us, so we can test and provide info to the developers that issue is not solved?

    kind regards,
    Kasia

    Hi @rizq,

Thank you for sharing the form export. I imported it into a demo site and was able to get the submission and payment using sandbox mode:https://snipboard.io/9du6Gr.jpg

Could you please retry making a test submission on your form using Sandbox mode. It may also help if you can update the API connections for your Paypal account as well.

Let us know how that goes.

I am having this exact same problem when using Safari. It was reported to me by someone on our site, and I was able to duplicate the error. I am on the latest version of the plugin.

    @wpmudev-support9,

We have users that don’t receive this error and are able to submit their payments to us successfully. I am not surprised or concerned that you are able to submit our form successfully. It is, however, relevant that you are able to reproduce our current issue: “Error! Something went wrong when verifying the payment.”

I do not know what browser and device the error is occurring for our certain users who receive this error. I was, however, able to reproduce the problem when taking the form to test mode and testing different browsers and devices (phone, tablet, desktop; Chrome, Safari, Firefox, IE).

Submitting our form successfully is not the problem. It is that error that keeps popping up for 1/2 of our users that is the issue !!!

Our API to PayPal is up-to-date and correct. I’ve already talked with PayPal support months ago when this issue originated.

    Hi @rizq,

As all sites are set up different, it is sometimes difficult to recreate the exact environment of where the issue is seen. We do aim at trying to replicate the issue with a copy of your form and connecting it to PayPal Sandbox. As we are not able to replicate your issue during our test where submission and payment processed correctly, could you please provide us with any additional details on the testing environments where you were able to replicate the issue.

    – Browser version
    – Device
    – Screenshot of error or any browser console errors
    – Any addiitonal steps

Another possibility is that your plugins or theme may be conflicting with the payment process. You can proceed to run a conflict test either on this live site or creating a staging site copy. First, create a recent backup in case you lose any settings during the test and have to restore to a previous working state.

Then deactivate all plugins and MU-plugins apart from Forminator, activate a default theme like TwentyTwentyOne, clear all caches and check again if the issue is still there. If not, it means that something is conflicting, so start activating the remaining plugins and theme, one by one this time, checking every time for the reported issue, until you reproduce the issue, thus finding the conflicted combination.

The following flowchart image can assist you during this test: https://premium.wpmudev.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/Support-Process-Support-Process.gif

    Hello @rizq ,

We haven’t heard from you for over 2 weeks now, so it looks like you were able to make it work or found a conflicting item.

Please feel free to re-open this ticket if needed.

    kind regards,

Hello @wpmudev-support2 or @wpmudev-support9 or @wpmudev-support13, I’m not sure if you will check this or not, but I’ve had the same problem. I don’t know how to fix it and I’m hoping you could help me out. The website is virtutek-x.com/down-jacket-mens. Hope to hear from you soon. I can provide any information you need.

    Never mind figured it out
