• Hi

I activated “Hide My Site” and an option for administrators not to enter the password.
After I logged out, now I can’t access the site. When I enter the password and click “Login”, the following error message appears:

ERROR: Sorry, there was an error. Please be sure JavaScript and Cookies are enabled in your browser and try again.

This message still appears in other browsers too. (I tried to enter the site through various browsers and even I tried to use my mobile phone, but the same error message appeared.
How can I resolve this issue? If I delete the plugin folder, will the problem disappear?

    Thanks for your help.

  • I am also having this same issue. When is disable the password protection this problem goes away. Does the plugin need to be updated or am I maybe having compatibility issues with another plugin that I have installed, possibly a security plugin?

    hi there,
I am also getting this error on some sites, plus on one site I get some php errors:
Notice: upgrade-functions.php is deprecated since version 2.5! Use wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php instead. in /home/evelurie/public_html/sandbox/01/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3448

Notice: Undefined variable: sql in /home/evelurie/public_html/sandbox/01/wp-content/plugins/hide-my-site/includes/security.php on line 34
Notice: Undefined index: hmspreview in /home/evelurie/public_html/sandbox/01/wp-content/plugins/hide-my-site/index.php on line 118
I have deactivated all other plugins.
This is a dev site, no content to speak of. just some demo content. using Genesis Beautiful Pro Theme. elurie.com/sandbox/01

I used the Hide My Site plugin successfully on my main host’s server, never had any problems.

Now, I installed Hide My Site on another hosting account, and I am receiving the same error message (below) on all devices (desktop, smartphone, tablet). What is the fix for this?? Is there an issue with the host not running current software on the server??

Any help is appreciated, thank you!!

    Hi Chuck,

Which web host are you having the problem with?

    The problem is on HostGator.

I have been using the plugin on InMotion for quite a while, and it has always functioned PERFECTLY.

    I have the same problem.

Argosmedia are you also on hostgator?

No, I have my own VPS. But I am using another plugin now. Just wanted to let you know about the error.

Thank you argos I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. My problem is that I haven’t been able to recreate the issue on my end so I can’t troubleshoot it.

    All the best,
    Justin

If you have any specific troubleshoot ideas I am willing to install it again to try and help you.

I would have to play around with it to get a better sense.

In this case, for example, I am pretty sure that there is an issue with the ‘logged in’ cookie not being placed on the user’s browser. If I was able to track down why it’s not getting placed (does the user have cookies disabled? Was something already printed out on the screen [you can’t set cookies in php if something has already been printed out to the screen]?). There are many more questions like this that I would explore, but it would be hard for me to list all the troubleshooting steps here.

    Thanks,
    Justin
