We have been trying to connect Woocommerce to our PayPal business account and are receiving the following error:

Error: The API credentials you provided are not valid. Please double-check that you entered them correctly and try again.

This is happening when attempting to enable ‘PayPal Checkout’

We have also input the API credentials in the ‘PayPal’ standard section and do not receive this error. (But checkout does not work)

The API credentials are correct and are only being used for Woocommerce. We have event attempted to reset the API credentials with no luck.

Neither checkout method (PayPal standard or PayPal checkout) are working on our website. We had previously used a personal PayPal account no issue.

Can you please advise as to what may be happening?

    Howdy!

To be clear, the PayPal Standard option works fine with your API credentials, but the PayPal Checkout option does not?

Do you get an error code within the error logs? If not, can you go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > PayPal Checkout and then enable logging?

Then, once that’s done please retry a purchase to trigger the error message, then go to WooCommerce > Status > Logs and find the PayPal Checkout error log. Let us know if there is a specific code within the details. Thanks!

    Hi Zach,

The PayPal standard option does not tell us that the API credentials are not valid. But the checkout process does not work.

The error message that displays when attempted to checkout with PayPal checkout says: Things don’t appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later.

And the error message displays when attempting with PayPal standard is: PayPal error (10002): An error (10002) occurred while processing your PayPal payment. Please contact the store owner for assistance.

    And the log says: [L_ERRORCODE0] => 10002 and [L_SEVERITYCODE0] => Error

    Thank you for your assistance!

    Thanks for that information!

PayPal error code 10002 can be for a variety of things, mentioned here:

    https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/why-did-i-get-api-error-code-10002-ts1030

I’d recommend checking to make sure that the username and password is correct for the API creds, and then if that doesn’t help contact PayPal directly to check the API setup, as well as your account as a whole for any issues.

    Please keep us posted!
