Is this because I have it set for account registration?

Yes. “protect signup” is meant to prevent bots from creating user accounts. Disabling the captcha during checkout would mean to provide a workaround for these nasty little things.

If so, can this validation be removed for registering accounts during checkout?

    Currently not.

For now you can only either enable or disable the captcha for both checkout and registration.

But I will keep this in mind for the next version. (Currently in progress.)

    Thank you for considering this!

Currently if its enabled I don’t know how to add the actual captcha under the “create an account” link to make it work without errors when my customers complete the order, so I have to disable it.

In all honesty though, the process of buying something during account creation validates their authenticity anyway, because PayPal and CC verify their name, address & email.

Thanks again. This is a great plugin that has stopped 100% of spam accounts on my site.

Since I’ve disabled captcha for registrations to allow account creation during checkout, I’ve had 15 spam accounts register.

I have to allow registration during checkout and because there is no captcha button there to validate with, if I have registrations protected an error is thrown that prevents orders from completing.

Do you know of any workarounds to where I can either add the button to my checkout form or force it to bypass registrations during checkout? It’s becoming more of an issue the longer I have this setting disabled to allow orders to be placed.

Thanks for any help on this.

Latest changes including a checkout registration captcha are already in the github repository: https://github.com/mcguffin/wp-recaptcha-integration. As an interim you can download the plugin from there. I couldn’t do intensive testing yet (dense schedule..), so I’d appreciate your feedback.

The captcha box does appear now under the “create an account” field during checkout, but only if the “woocommerce checkout” protection is disabled.

There is some unnecessary text above the box that says “Create an account by entering the information below…..” which is not necessary when I have it set to create passwords automatically on account creation.

In all honesty, I would prefer not to have a captcha button at all during checkout, because each extra step they have to take to complete an order increases the chances of them not finishing an order.

Can an override be implemented for this particular registration field instead?

I think a condition to validate registration captcha on all pages except “cart, checkout” pages is what I need.

    Thank you!

You are right. I removed the captcha on checkout+registration. (just published on github)

There is some unnecessary text above the box that says “Create an account by entering the information below…..” […]

Sure this is not caused by woocommerce?

PERFECT! Thank you so much. ??

And yes, it was WooCommerce.pot file that adds the goofy “create an account by entering the information below…” message. It doesn’t appear as long as there isn’t a captcha box or password field shown, so it’s good now.

This is an A+ plugin and you should consider charging for a pro version.

Regarding testing, I placed an order while “creating” a new account and it went through without any errors regarding captcha, so I’m assuming it works to a level that you can release it if you like. The only thing I noticed is that I had to re-enter my Site Key & Secret during plugin install, as if it wasn’t seeing my previous settings, but that’s no big deal to me.
