ERROR: This user account has been locked

Of note I did try these steps from the pinned topic but they did not let me in.

htaccess file troubleshooting steps: Unable to login into your website:
1. Use FTP or your Web Host Control Panel File Manager and delete the .htaccess file in your website root folder and the .htaccess file in your wp-admin folder.
2. Log into your website, click the BPS AutoMagic Buttons and Activate all BulletProof Modes. Or if you are removing BPS do steps 3 and 4 under BPS removal steps.

The user account being locked is not related to the WordPress automatic update. The user account is locked because the user account name is known and the max number of failed login attempts was reached and the user account was locked.

If your are unable to login to your site due to an issue/problem with Login Security, rename the /bulletproof-security plugin folder, log back into your website and correct the issue/problem.

Correcting the issue in this case would be to go to BPS Login Security and unlocking your user account.

The issue with your user account name being known and this user account being locked will continue to happen repeatedly since your user account name is known. Here are some things below that you can do about that problem.

The problem is that this is my admin account, I don’t post with it so the name should not appear anywhere and it’s not the default admin name.

We were posting at the same time. See my reply above. If you did not attempt to login with that user account name then someone else did. So either someone you know that has that user account name attempted to login or someone that you do not know attempted to login with the user account name or of course the user account name is exposed somewhere (by a plugin or theme) or is retrievable using an author enumeration bot probe and the login attempts were automated using a bot.
