I’m helping a friend update their website, and she recently loaded her website on the GoDaddy Server with WordPress. However, every time I click on the “Edit Page” button, I get a white screen with: “Error Thrown: Function name must be a string”. I apologize for my lack of knowledge, but I have no idea what is going on.

Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Debugging_in_WordPress

You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to deactivate plugins.

Thank you for your quick response (I saw it yesterday). I’m going to try your suggestions tomorrow when I have more time to sit down and make sure I understand what I’m doing. I’ll report in once I try it all!

    Thanks again.

    Hi Steve,

I tried your latter suggestion and disabled plugins. It was the NextGEN Gallery plug that was messing up WordPress’ edit page feature. Thank you again for taking the time to answer my question.

Be sure to post a topic in the next gen forum so the developers know about the issue. https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/nextgen-gallery
