    500 – Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

Nothing weird about the file name– “Accessing Email 2020.pdf” … same name as the one being replaced. Error comes up after choosing the file and clicking submit. Doing a “replace file only” — been using your plugin for many years.

    Hi guys,

We cannot reproduce the issue from our side. Can you please give us more details about your conditions?

    • Browser?
    • Enable Media Replace version?
    • Does it happen for all PDFs?
    • Does the same happen if you install a previous version of EMR?

    Thank you,

I am running on windows with IIS / PHP v7.4.6 so mod_security is not my issue.

Browser? – both firefox and chrome
Enable Media Replace version? – latest version
Does it happen for all PDFs? – yes and on different subsites (multisite config)
Does the same happen if you install a previous version of EMR? – I went back all the way to v3.3.7 so it must be something in combination with a wordpress update (running latest wordpress).

Thank you, FriendlyWP for your update ??

Matt, I am not sure if I understand your last answer: “I went back all the way to v3.3.7 so it must be something in combination with a wordpress update (running latest wordpress).”

Is version 3.3.7 working correctly or not?

Sorry, I meant I tried going back to older EMR versions. I wen’t back all the way to version 3.3.7 and it was still a problem. That leads me to believe a recent wordpress update may have broken it. We haven’t installed any new plugins in awhile.

    Hi Matt,

Thank you for checking that. I’ll probably need admin access to take a look at your site. But before that, could you please do another quick test for me?

    1. Deactivate all plugins except Enable Media Replae
    2. Try to reproduce the issue

Does it work? If so, then you should activate one by one your plugins until you find which one is the problematic one.

If not, let me know, please.

    Best,

The issue appears to be related to this: https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/48853

I had to remove ghostscript from the server to resolve the issue.

@sixaxis Don’t ask people for admin access or off forum contact please.

While I know you have the best of intentions, it’s forum policy that you not ask users for admin or server access. Users on the forums aren’t your customers, they’re your open source collaborators, and requesting that kind of access can put you and them at high risk.

If they are paying customers (such as people who bought a premium service/product from you) then by all means, direct them to your official customer support system. But in all other cases, you need to help them here on the forums.

Thankfully are other ways to get information you need:

    You get the idea.

We know volunteer support is not easy, and this guideline can feel needlessly restrictive. It’s actually there to protect you as much as end users. Should their site be hacked or have any issues after you accessed it, you could be held legally liable for damages. In addition, it’s difficult for end users to know the difference between helpful developers and people with malicious intentions. Because of that, we rely on plugin developers and long-standing volunteers (like you) to help us and uphold this particular guideline.

When you help users here and in public, you also help the next person with the same problem. They’ll be able to read the debugging and solution and educate themselves. That’s how we get the next generation of developers.
