S3 uploads fail – Problem with Error: Unable to put object (S3::putObject()

  • Everything was working fine until I did WordPress and Plugins update today. I did it after long time anyways, I think may be little more than one month.

    After the update, while creating a new post I tried to upload an image through media and it didn’t show up in the media gallery. I then went to the CDN settings page and found the following when running Test S3 Upload:

    Error: Unable to put object (S3::putObject(): [PermanentRedirect] The bucket you are attempting to access must be addressed using the specified endpoint. Please send all future requests to this endpoint.).

    I am sure it worked before the update as I uploaded 10 pictures yesterday without any problem.

    So, files are uploaded to my local media folders but not copied to S3 Bucket anymore. Any Idea?

  • Hmmm..seems the author didn’t add the update to S3 that was done by the folks over at W3 Total Cache Fixed way back, related to S3 and Cloudfront. The author has been slow in implementing all the bug fixes made at w3tc-fixed even though he visits there and pulls fixes/features from there.

    Not sure how critical this is to you but u could test out W3TC Fixed to see if the problem is fixed for you…or just wait 6 months for this author to finally catch up.

    Just be aware though that if u do use w3tc-fixed, you will have to go into the CDN area and select your endpoint location from the given drop down box…right now in the version u are using there is no drop down box and the endpoints it is aware of is very tiny vs w3tc-fixed. ??

    btw, i am not related to w3tc-fixed..just a person who got fed up of the slow updates by this author and am using that instead.

    Be sure that your bucket configuration has the proper region set.

    Go to Performance > CDN > Configuration and in “Configuration: Objects” pick the correct bucket location (You can see the bucket region in the AWS panel).
