• I have received an email saying Version 4.7.1 update failed. There is no update option on my website update page, just Try again which does nothing. Plug ins have been update no problem.
    How do I fix this?
I have seen someone else on the forum given instructions to do a manual update with manual update instructions at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update.
I am unable to follow even the first line of instructions here – it is beyond my level of understanding. Can someone help with the update? I don’t know anything about using FTP or where to even find the files mentioned.
    website is romancescamsurvivor.org.
Want to keep my site up to date. Help please.

Are you on GoDaddy? If so, I received the same email. Another thread here mentioned that GoDaddy is upgrading their WP servers.

If you don’t know how to set up FTP, please contact GoDaddy tech support. They can point you to documentation on how to configure Filezilla, a free FTP client.

Then download a copy of wordpress from www.ads-software.com, unzip it on your PC, and using FileZilla, upload all files and directories into your public_html directory (replacing what’s there).

“An automated WordPress update has failed to complete! Please notify the site administrator.”

I’ve got this on two sites now. Isn’t there an easier way to try another install?
Uploading all new files is extremely time consuming with WordPress.
Both are managed WP sites on Godaddy
It’s basically getting rid of the nag message so that you can access another update.
One (older) Youtube video explained getting rid of a .maintenance file, but that seems to be gone in the later versions.

    TIA

I just spoke to GoDaddy and they say this is a known issue at the moment and is being worked on, and will likely be fixed in the near future. They recommended to wait before doing anything further.
    Thanks

    Thank you!
